Omaha FLL (First Lego League) Qualifier

I have a special Thanks for parents, relatives and supporters of our science club family, including Mayor Suttle, on this special day.

We demonstrated a fantastic team effort at the Omaha FLL Qualifier!

At the coaches meeting before the competition, we were told that nine teams would advance to the tournament in February. We were also told that not all nine teams advancing to the tournament would receive special awards – only the top six teams would receive special awards. So like other club leaders, I knew that my team had the potential to get special recognition, but we had to make it into one of the top six positions.
We did this! Be proud! Yahoo! We made it! Happy faces!

We received a special category award for best robot, attachment design process, programming and documentation! This was one out of six specialty awards, so we also made it into the top third!

One of the exercises we do best helped us get the award! There is a lesson to be learned here about documentation: In the robot programming and presentation world, documentation is important! As we live and learn, we will see that there are many times in the future where proper documentation will be very important and make a real difference, so let’s practice this skill now!

We take the Mayor’s advice to “stay in school” to heart!

Thank you for your support! We hope to see you at SASM in Ashland on Saturday February 16, 2013! Opening ceremony should be at 8:30 am and Awards at about 3:30 pm.

FLL is Fun!
