University of Nebraska hosts a reception for retired NASA Astronaut Clayton Anderson. Clayton was born February 23, 1959, in Omaha, Nebraska. He graduated from Ashland-Greenwood High School, Ashland, Nebraska, in 1977; graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Hastings College, Nebraska, in 1981; and received a Master of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from Iowa State University in 1983. Clayton joined Johnson Space Center in 1983 and embarked on a long, fruitful career with NASA culminating aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery to the International Space Station ISS in April 2010. Clayton retired as a NASA astronaut in January 2013.
