Senior Solutions theme, Core values, Robot game, and Robot presentation. Our team will make four presentations before the challenging day of competition is ended.
Senior Solutions theme: every team must brainstorm, research, develop and share a solution for seniors in presentation format that will enhance their day to day lives allowing them to be more productive, comfortable or better in some way.
Core values presentation: every team must demonstrate in presentation format how the team practices the core values stated previously in a meaningful way. A Core values poster must also be created by the team.
Robot game: this is a fun experience for robot building, computer programming brainiacs. First Lego League robot challenge scientists created a game board that is about one meter by two meters in size. Lines were drawn on the board. Challenges such as programming the robot to fix a broken chair, lift weights, turn off the heat to a stove, find a certain color pill bottle and exercise the dog are all created for teams to solve. This must all be done to run in two and one half minutes! Ah ha! So we have another variant of Senior Solutions!
Robot presentation: as you may already see, it takes great thought, skill and teamwork to design and program a robot to complete these robot game tasks. Now we present our valuable creation: the robot! We are asked to explain why we designed the robot as we did and what we might do differently. We then present robot attachments necessary to complete robot game missions such as turning off the stove, etc. We are asked to run a mission. Of course we want to run one that works well!
Our club leader has managed this FLL competition process for several years. What our leader hopes that everyone takes away from this challenging adventure is that this experience adds to our character and is a valuable life experience, much more than an event! When the qualifications are met, and the day is lived, the FLL is fun!
